God's Message Cannot Be Chained

From today’s reading...

Remember the gospel that I carry, ‘Jesus Christ risen from the dead, sprung from the race of David’; it is on account of this that I have to put up with suffering, even to being chained like a criminal. But God's message cannot be chained up.’” 2 Timothy 2:8-9

If you’ve watched any cop or prison show, you know that “snitches get stitches.”

You’ve seen countless scenes where the one bad guy is being interrogated by the good cop/bad cop, and he snarls, “I’M NOT A RAT!”

Fine.

That’s commendable in some way, but we know there is no honor among thieves.

That being said, would one be considered a rat if they were imprisoned for telling a lie and recanted on the lie and actually told the truth in order to receive leniency?

I mean, even a criminal probably has one or two good friends for whom they might take the heat, but who would go to jail, endure torture, and even death just to tell a tall tale? (Apparently, hundreds and even thousands in political office, at NGOs, and at big pharma, but they’re just making money, and at least one or two know they risk being “Hillaried,” so they’ve kept up the lie, but I digress.)

No.

Paul was either a lunatic, a psychopath, or he was telling the truth, and he spoke the Truth loud and proud throughout years of suffering and in the face of death because he only cared about the Truth because he knew the source of the Truth, and knowing that, and living in accordance with the Truth, is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
