Be One In Love, Heart, and Mind

Written by Wes Schaeffer | November 1, 2022

From today’s reading...

So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fellowship in the Spirit, any warmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you, make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.” Philippians 2:1-2

How much of a single mind, love, or heart are we with Protestants and Catholics, and Muslims? Jews, Hindus, and Buddhists? Atheists, agnostics, and Wiccans? With palm readers and earth worshippers? And especially people who say, “Roll Tide, Roll!”

Look for the similarities in your neighbor, political opponent, and wicked, evil football fans who wear crimson red of life-destroying algae.

Find the common ground with that boisterous parishioner that dominates every conversation.

Find the common ground with that single mom whose lawn is always too long and whose kids are always too loud.

Find the common ground with that pious parishioner who can’t hide how they are judging you for what you wear, for arriving three minutes late, and leaving five minutes early.

Be of a single mind.

Initiate it.

Extend the olive branch. Make the effort, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
