You Exist Because God Willed It

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | October 30, 2022

From today’s reading...

And how could a thing subsist, had you not willed it? Or how be preserved, if not called forth by you?” Wisdom 11:25

There are people who believe we are cosmic accidents. Just random luck. A happenstance of the cosmos. (These same people also trust the government, Dan Rather, and the CEOs of Pfizer and Moderna, but I digress.)

They believe this because they are either lazy, or they don’t want to be told what to do, or both. I get it. I’m lazy and I hate being told what to do, but I know God, and I know He knows me, and I know I let Him down daily, hourly, minute by minute.

However, as a father myself, I know God wants what’s best for me. He must correct and discipline me when I do wrong, but He always wants me to do right and will always welcome me back when I repent and seek His forgiveness.

And I believe that even the most hardened atheist, at the moment just before their death, has his or her life flash before their eyes, and will be mortified at their arrogance and will reach out to God for forgiveness.

Maybe, for some, that will be enough. Maybe. For some. But why play fast and loose with your eternal soul just to play fast and loose for a few decades with your mortal body? Accept your frailty, your humanity, and your divinity, and act accordingly, which is the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
