How To Be Abandoned By God

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | October 12, 2021

From today’s reading...

That is why God abandoned them in their inmost cravings to filthy practices of dishonouring their own bodies-because they exchanged God's truth for a lie and have worshipped and served the creature instead of the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” Romans 1:24-25

Do you really have to ask, “What is Truth?”

Let’s assume for a moment that you are sincere in asking this question.

For whatever reason, you have reached adulthood without ever examining your conscience.

Maybe you’ve fallen victim to the “spiritual but not religious” movement, which is not Truth, by the way, but I digress.

Maybe you just were not raised with any faith whatsoever and have simply come of age in a material world.

Fine. So be it.

So let’s look at this from the other side of the table.

Let’s identify what for sure is not Truth, i.e., eternally correct and beneficial and supportive and nurturing across all societies across all time.

Fashion? Nope.

Technological gizmos? Nope.

Software? Nope.

Hairstyles? Nope.

Six-pack abs? No.

Worshipping politicians? Nope.

Worshipping athletes? Nope.

Worshipping entertainers? Nope.

Worshipping members of the opposite sex? Nope.

Worshipping members of the same sex? Nope.

Creating 3…10…21…33…61 other genders? Ha. Whatever.

If you think I’m harsh or unreasonable or unrealistic or narrow-minded or closed-minded or some kind of “ic,” let me ask you something.

How long were you satisfied with last year’s haircut, attire, car, smartphone, celebrity, or politician?

When you were at your lowest, were you proud of yourself and your accomplishments and your efforts and progress you made toward meaningful goals or were you comparing yourself to these fleeting, shallow, fake people and harming yourself because you deemed yourself lacking and somehow unworthy of love?

What does that leave us?

God’s Truth.

Find it and follow it because it’s the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
