From today’s reading...
But the LORD asked, ‘Have you reason to be angry?’"
Jonah reminds me of my children who throw a fit when they don’t get their way.
I look at them with my head tilted and ask “What got your panties in a bunch?” (I like to confuse my California kids with Southern phrases to both give them a little connection to the South...and to distract them when they have their panties in a bunch.)
Then it hits me…I’m no different than Jonah.
Then it hits me… Have I pushed things too far, one too many times with God?
Then it hits me…God was quite patient with Jonah and Nineveh.
Then it hits me…Jonah and Nineveh repented (but Jonah had to be slapped around a few times before he finally got squared away.)
Then it hits me… I’m no different than Jonah. (See a trend here?)
Be more like the residents of Nineveh and turn away from evil and towards the good the first time you are invited.
But if you’re more like Jonah, be thankful that our loving, patient Father is not opposed to sending large fish and worms and burning winds your way to help you...
Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.
