Save Your Rage and Indignation

Written by Wes Schaeffer | October 7, 2021

From today’s reading...

This made Jonah very indignant; he fell into a rage.” Jonah 4:1

There is such a thing as righteous indignation, as we see in John 2:15 when Jesus made a whip and drove out the money changes for desecrating the Temple.

But Jonah is not Jesus, and his rage is neither righteous nor right.

He was angry, jealous, vindictive. He wanted to be proven right as a prophet of God.

He expected Ninevah to be destroyed.

So Jonah is angry that people repented and were saved from a fiery, painful death. (We have a lot of Jonahs on the left who want to withhold medical care from people who refuse the experimental COVID jabs—all three…four…fifteen?—so they die a painful death, but I digress.)

If you follow God’s calling and deliver His Good News, it’s to save sinners from eternal damnation. It’s to give them time to turn their lives around and maybe experience a little heaven on earth.

And it’s for you to do the same, because you are called to “work out your salvation in fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12)

So get to work, because it’s the only way to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
