The Benefit of a Strong Spirit

Posted by Wes Schaeffer | January 22, 2022

From today’s reading...

Saul and Jonathan, beloved and handsome, were divided neither in life, nor in death. Swifter than eagles were they, stronger than lions.”
2 Samuel 1:23

We are all going to die, even the swift and the strong.

But what happens after death? Being physically strong will not save you in this life, and it is worthless in the next.

All that matters is that you are spiritually strong.

Saul shows us what happens when pride and jealousy take hold.

He shows us what happens when you disobey the first Commandment. (He sought a necromancer in 1 Samuel 28 because God was no longer speaking to him, which is a classic example of adding fuel to the fire.)

Saul was a king and spoke with God, yet he was jealous of a loyal shepherd boy who could fight, and it cost him his life and the lives of his sons.

Now you know how not to...

Stay the course.
Keep the faith.
Endure.

Now go sell something.
